Give Your Mind The Space It Craves
Embracing mental minimalism
It’s 1pm, and I’m on the patio of a bar on a sunlounger, overlooking a beach in South Vietnam.
It’s idyllic.
But what’s even more idyllic is that I’ve given myself a whole ten days off work to stop thinking.
If you run your own business, you’ll know what I mean. Your mind is always on. Always thinking- about current work, future work, invoicing and marketing.
I had planned to use this time to think about my goals and my next 90 day plan, but when I arrived here, I realised that the beauty of holidays is giving your mind that mental space it deserves.
If your mind was a browser, how many tabs would it have open?
Many of us are so caught up in the hamster wheel of growth (more, better, faster) that we fail to give our minds the expansiveness of just ‘being.’
We are afraid to mentally let go.
For if we don’t keep thinking about our business, our bank balance, next months pipeline, that goal we want to achieve, then maybe we won’t get there.
But what if the opposite were true?
